About the Author
From 1986 until 2011 Professor Rutledge, B.S, M.Ed., M.C.R.P., J.D., taught Legal Drafting at the University of Florida College of Law where she became Director of the Legal Drafting Program in 1993. Throughout her years of service, Professor Rutledge, with the help of her colleagues, continued to develop and refine the materials and methods used in the Program. A graduate of Rutgers School of Law, Professor Rutledge served as judicial clerk in the Superior Court of New Jersey and practiced law in that state for several years before beginning her teaching career.

Ultimate "How To" Book

"Basic Legal Drafting" is the ultimate "How To" book for anyone faced with the task of drafting a legal document. It answers all questions as to "What Do I Say and How Do I Say It." The text leads the reader step by step through the drafting process: how to think about the context of the document, how to determine the necessary content of the document, how to place the content into a logical framework, and how to use language skills to set out the content clearly and without ambiguity.
The faculty members of the Legal Drafting Program at the University of Florida Levin College of Law have used the book for six semesters, and it is by far the best teaching tool we have encountered. Because the text covers all of the basics of effective drafting, students are better prepared when they come to class, and the discussion is more informed. Many questions can be answered simply by reference to specific pages of the text. Comments by students have been highly positive. They find the book to be "thorough", "readable", and "most helpful", and indicate it is the one book they intend to keep after graduation because it is the "most useful."
The text is useful not only for the classroom, but also as a primer for law school graduates who have not had the benefit of a hands-on skills course such as Legal Drafting. It is also useful as a reference for even seasoned attorneys facing particular drafting dilemmas. "Basic Legal Drafting" is practical and to the point, and entirely user-friendly.

Great Textbook

As a law school legal drafting instructor and former practitioner, I find this textbood invaluable. Professor Rutledge's easy-to-read compilation of more than 20 years of lessons taught and learned captures the essentials of drafting clear, unambiguous, and well-organized documents. Each drafting principle is presented with a thorough explanation and helpful examples that provide excellent starting points for my students' weekly drafting assignments. I have more time in class to focus on the students' work products and I spend less class time on general explantions. Not only is the substance outstanding, the writing style is delightful and makes you feel as though you are in a very pleasant classroom environment. There is nothing dry or boring about this text, and my students actually give positive feedback about it! A reference students should take with them into the practice, I highly recommend it for instructors, students, and practitioners.

Very well organized. Elements are explained very carefully. An excellent resource, and for non-lawyers, an essential resource. One complaint: a little hard to find some of the important points made in the body of the text. It could be improved with more subdivisions.

Good for novices

This book is an outstanding introduction to practical numerical methods for (budding) physicists who have no experience with these vital tools. The author states the book is aimed at undergraduate seniors or first-year graduates. This seems pessimistic to me: I think any competent undergraduate who has taken a course in ordinary differential equations could hack it.

The book ignores the usual approach taken by numerical analysis texts, which is to build up from the fundamental ideas (e.g., finite precision arithmetic, error propagation, fixed point iteration, finite difference approximation to the derivative), instead jumping almost immediately into a projectile motion ODE problem. This allows the author to move on quickly to adaptive Runge-Kutta in Chapter 3, Fast Fourier Transforms in Chapter 5, PDEs in Chapter 6 and finish with a discussion of Monte Carlo methods; whereas more traditional books will only begin to cover PDEs near the end and usually do not discuss FFTs or Monte Carlo.

Of course, this comes at a price. I took a senior level course taught in the traditional manner described above, and happened to pick up a copy of this book in the middle of the semester. This book has far more physical insight than my assigned text, and leaves the student able to appoach a far greater set of practical problems, but I think those who are serious about computational work should cover the basics more thoroughly. One outstanding feature of the book is the end of chapter projects that unify and apply what has been learned, and offer a chance for better students to stretch their muscles.

On the other side, what the author says in the preface bears repeating here: the methods in described in this book are (almost all) foundational, and nowhere near the state of the art. This is particularly true of the relaxational methods for PDEs described in Chapter 8. Also, for a modestly-sized paperback with only black-and-white printing, it is amazingly expensive.

A very useful book with alot of useful code

I have attended Professor Garcia's first year grad class in computational physics and it was very good. Professor Garcia is a very clear lecturer and I think this comes through in his book. The book breaks down the problem of numerical methods to very simple bite size chunks and provides a very interesting way to learn numerical methods by immediately applying it to interesting real world problems. this book allows you to feel like you are learning and applying numerical methods almost
immediately. There are entire programs listed in the book and in an accompanying disk which can be used in the solution of the problems. One simply edits and adds to these programs to solve most of the problems. Afterwards you have a good collection of generic code which can be put together to solve other problems. The book includes the code in C++ and Matlab. (older edition had fortran and matlab) Professor Garcia is a person who works in the area of computational fluid dynamics and statistical mechanics, both very computational areas, hence he is well qualified to write this text. There are a good number of problems and answers to a number of these, so the book is also useful for self study. Try it you'll like it.

An excellent introductory text

I cannot recommend this book highly enough for physics or engineering students undertaking a first course in numerical methods. The presentation is clear, comprehensive and illustrated with copious examples. The material covered includes most of that a theoretical/computational physicist should be familiar with. The mathematics required is not particularly taxing. If you've got a good understanding of ODEs and a basic understanding of PDEs, then this book should be accessible.

However, it should be noted who this book is NOT for. This book is not for those seeking a deeper understanding of numerical methods. For that, you're much better off reaching for a mathematics text (such as Shampine/Gordon). This book is also not for practicing scientists or engineers who require more advanced or computationally efficient methods. This book is meant as an introduction, and the author sticks to that rigorously. That said, after mastering the material in this book, there should be nothing preventing you from moving on to more advanced methods and difficult problems.

If you are looking for an introductory text though, you'd be hard pressed to top this one.

I am going to say it straight forward, I am a mess!. But after reading this book I felt that I am going to be more organized with my timetable and I realize how easy it was to manage your time by establishing some daily goals/objectives and the rewards that would come with it. Another thing that I liked about this book was that it is actually a lecture that the author summarized in a book. Most "how-to time management" books are thick and boring, you must invest a lot of reading time to get a small amount of actual knowledge out of them.But this book is different, is short, it goes straight to the point, and pretty it is helpful. The most important tip to take away from is that you should focus on the important things and don't drown in the every-day little things.

Time management plays an important role in achieving success. Having a good time management skills entails a lot of self discipline and goal setting. I admit that I am not that good when it comes to that factors but this book offers new ideas on how I can restructure my time management plan to utilize it better.

OK if you want to only look at pictures

The clue is in the description: "Approximately 225 pages with about 220 color images and this book is ENTIRLY(sic) pictorial."

The title is "Shooting Old Film Cameras..." - well this is quite misleading in my opinion - it is basically a 5 page introduction describing the author's biography followed by a bunch of repetitive and quite boring photographs. Nothing at all to do with the best way to use the RB67 - tricks and tips, that sort of thing. There may have been some redeeming aspect if with each photograph, some form of commentary had been provided - perhaps even a sentence describing the lens and film used. However, that would assume one was wanting to use a similar technique in a current setting. That would be fine if you wanted to create second rate nude photos in a 1960's amateur style. Luckily this 'book' was available for Kindle loan and I didn't waste any money, or a great deal of time, on this 'book'. You are better off getting hold of a copy of "Medium and Large Format Photography" by Roger Hicks http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0715311174/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I didn't enjoy the storyline of Broken Prince as much as I did Paper Princess. I was hoping Ella would date other people, maybe even Easten because I like them together better than Ella and Reed. The ending was just crazy, as if Reed never learned his lesson from book one. The kiss with Wade was perfect. I needed more of that. I didn't feel there was much of a story, more of a filler between book one and three but I finished it in a day.

I got completely sucked into Paper Princess and stayed up late into the night to finish it in one sitting, because I couldn't put it down. So I was extremely excited for the sequel. That excitement faded after I started reading it, and I actually set it aside to read another book. I've continued to read Broken Prince in short increments since then, because it's not as compelling as the first book.

I loved the angst and the sexual tension in the first book, and there is none of that in Broken Prince. The problem here is that we get Reed's POV, and that takes away all the uncertainty and intrigue about his intentions. I couldn't connect with Ella's doubt in this one, because I already knew the truth straight from Reed's thoughts. He was also more interesting when he was ambiguous. Knowing all his thoughts ruined that. It also took away all the tension and anticipation. It made the story too predictable.

I enjoyed Ella's showdowns in the first book, but they were ridiculous and overdone in this one. All the drama here quickly became tiresome. It dragged on and on, and there was no fun. The first book had fun scenes to enjoy, but I can't remember any in this book. Even Easton was depressed during the entire book. I love angst, but this tipped over into melodrama. The only unexpected thing that happened was Gideon's secret. That piqued my interest, but it was only a brief part of the plot.

The worst part of this book was the ending. The cliffhanger in the first one promised all kinds of antagonism and fireworks that this book didn't deliver. The cliffhanger in this one was just plain stupid. It made Reed look stupid, because there was no reason for him to go anywhere near the mess his dad was already taking care of. It made no sense in the plot, and it is completely contrived just to add enough drama to drag things out for another book.

I'm really disappointed, because I expected to love this book as much as the first one. Sadly, all the magic is gone.

Paper Princess was so good... anxiously awaited the sequel and was so disappointed. Broken Prince is.... boring...I don't know how else to say it. The plot is very weak. So disappointed.

About the Author
Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model, singer, and cultural icon. She was best known for her roles in films such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire, The Seven Year Itch, and Some Like It Hot, for which she received a Golden Globe Award. Ben Hecht was an American screenwriter, director, producer, playwright, and novelist. He was the first screenwriter to receive an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, for Underworld. Joshua Greene is the son of Milton Greene, a photographer whose subjects included Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Grace Kelly, and Cary Grant. Prior to her marriage to Arthur Miller, Marilyn Monroe lived with Greene and his family.
